What is a Sound Bath?

A Sound Bath is a meditative, therapeutic self-care practice that involves soaking in the vibrational sounds of deeply resonant instruments like gongs, singing bowls, drums chimes and more.

Sound Baths invite access to different parts of our consciousness—physical, mental / emotional, and energetic—facilitating awareness and release through multiple layers of our being.

Physical: Sound vibrates deeply into the muscles and bones, massaging the body and increasing physical awareness. Brain frequencies can “sync up” with sound frequencies, clearing out old patterns for a fresh start.

Mental / Emotional: Soothing and familiar sounds can bring up memories, creative ideas and deeply held emotions for processing and release, while more complex sounds can give us access to dreamlike states of awareness to explore the deepest parts of the mind.

Energetic: Sound can facilitate non-ordinary states of consciousness that may give us access to awareness that goes beyond the senses, allowing us to acknowledge and align with parts of ourselves that extend outside of the mind or body.

How Gongs, Chimes, & Singing Bowls Induce Meditation

Using sound, it is possible to make profound changes in brainwave patterns and states of consciousness, observable on brainwave mapping equipment (EEG), as well as positive changes in the body measurable with blood tests, biofeedback equipment and other sophisticated procedures.
